Administrative Director’s Report

The Judicial Council of California tracks authorized and filled judgeship positions in Superior Courts and Courts of Appeal. As of January 2008, there were 138 total vacancies. From May 2012 to May 2014, the number of authorized judgeships fluctuated between 1,680 and 1,706, with the majority being filled (average vacancy rate around 5-7%).
