Overview
The Center for Families, Children, & the Courts (CFCC) is accepting applications for an Administrative Coordinator to join their Family Law Trust Fund unit.
The Administrative Coordinator performs lead administrative and operational duties in support of all mandated Family Court Services (FCS) activities under Family Code section 1850, including statewide training, technical assistance, statistical reporting, and program research. The position provides direct support to court‑based FCS offices including mediators, child custody recommending counselors, evaluators, investigators, and directors, ensuring consistent program operations and high‑quality statewide service delivery. Key functions include providing technical guidance to courts, coordinating mandated training and evaluation activities, managing research and data initiatives, and assisting with policy‑related projects that advance statewide family court practice.
The Administrative Coordinator is one of two coordinators supporting the Judicial Council’s Family and Juvenile Law Advisory Committee (Fam/Juv). This role manages administrative operations for both open and closed committee meetings, including approximately 30 full‑committee sessions and over 100 working‑group meetings annually, and focuses on statewide family and juvenile law initiatives. Responsibilities include agenda development, public noticing, materials production, meeting operations, and compliance with rule‑based requirements for advisory bodies.
The position also supports Access to Visitation Grant activities pursuant to Family Code section 3204 and Standard 5.20, including grant coordination, reporting support, and communication with grantees and stakeholders.
This position provides specialized administrative and logistical coordination for large‑scale, in‑person statewide FCS training programs. The Administrative Coordinator is responsible for end‑to‑end planning and onsite execution of FCS regional trainings, statewide leadership symposia, and the full Child and Family Focused Education (CAFFE) suite of in‑person programs. Core duties include coordinating hotel and venue contracts; arranging statewide travel and accessibility services; preparing agendas and training materials; supporting faculty and participant needs; managing onsite registration, room setup, technology, and session flow; and overseeing post‑event reconciliation and documentation. These responsibilities require ongoing coordination with FCS staff, Center for Judicial Education and Recourses (CJER), Conference Services, contractors, and Branch Accounting and Procurement (BAP) to ensure smooth delivery of statewide, multi‑site events. Limited support for virtual training offerings is also provided, primarily for scheduling, materials posting, and light technical assistance.
The position interacts regularly with FCS Directors, court leadership, mediators and counselors, CJER education developers, Conference Services, BAP, Judicial Council members, judicial officers, and external stakeholders. The Administrative Coordinator operates under general supervision and ensures that complex statewide programs—training, advisory, grant, research, and policy initiatives—function smoothly, efficiently, and in compliance with all governing requirements.
The Judicial Council
The Judicial Council of California is the policy setting body for the state court system and has constitutionally conferred statewide rule-making authority. This authority includes developing, advocating for, and allocating the judicial branch budget. A majority of Council members are California state justices and judges; however, the Council also includes lawyers, legislators, and court administrators.
By enhancing its role as a leadership, knowledge, and service resource for the judicial branch, the Judicial Council’s staff organization seeks to continue to evolve as one of California’s most dynamic public service entities, focused on improving access to justice for all Californians by innovating and responding to the changing needs of the courts and the public. As a government body charged with improving the statewide administration of justice, the Judicial Council has multiple offices with diverse responsibilities relating to court policy and operations. As employees of the council, every member of staff should view and approach their work as one Judicial Council with a public service mission that is greater than the sum of its parts.
The Judicial Council strives for work life balance and includes substantial vacation and holiday time. In addition, we offer an excellent benefits package including pension, medical, dental, and vision coverage, flexible spending, up to $130 per month reimbursement for qualifying commuting costs, student loan forgiveness as part of Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF), and retirement savings plans. In San Francisco, the office is only a 7-minute walk from the downtown Civic Center BART station. In Sacramento, the office is located minutes from downtown, just north of Discovery Park.
The Judicial Council offers hybrid work arrangements for many positions. The successful candidate will be expected to work in person at the Judicial Council’s San Francisco or Sacramento office at least two days per week, based on their office leader’s direction, and reside in the areas surrounding these locations. To be eligible for Judicial Council employment and participation in the Judicial Council’s Hybrid Work Program, a prospective or current employee’s primary residence/remote work location must be in the State of California and within a 150-mile driving radius of their assigned reporting location.
