Judge Ann Moorman was elected to the Superior Court of Mendocino County in 2010 and commenced her service in 2011 in a felony trial department. She served as assistant presiding judge from 2016 through 2017 and presiding judge from 2018 through 2022. Currently, she presides over an unlimited civil calendar.
Earlier in her career, Judge Moorman led the creation of the Behavior Health Court by authoring a grant application and drafting the governing policies and practices, and then presided over the court from 2013 to 2020. Judge Moorman served as presiding juvenile court judge from 2018 through 2023, where she handled dependency and juvenile justice matters, as well as Family Dependency Drug Court. She revised the court’s Indian Child Welfare Act practices to be more inclusive of the many federally recognized tribes in Mendocino County. Prior to joining the bench, Judge Moorman worked in private practice handling criminal and civil matters, later focusing on complex financial and white-collar litigation.
Before joining the bench, Judge Moorman served as president of both the California Attorneys for Criminal Justice and the Legal Services Corporation of Mendocino and Lake Counties. She is also a fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers.
She received a bachelor’s degree from Colorado State University and juris doctor's degree from Golden Gate University.
