Erika Sperbeck
Chief Administrative Officer Erika Sperbeck oversees Audit Services, Branch Accounting and Procurement, Budget Services, and Facilities Services at the Judicial Council of California.
Ms. Sperbeck joined the Judicial Council in February 2026, bringing more than 30 years of experience in California state government, including leadership roles with the Department of Finance, Department of General Services, California Department of Insurance, and Department of Health Care Services, as well as service as an assistant secretary at the California Health and Human Services Agency.
From 2017 through January 2026, Ms. Sperbeck served as chief deputy director for policy and program support at the Department of Health Care Services. Appointed by Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. and confirmed by the California Senate, she was later reappointed by Governor Gavin Newsom. In that role, she oversaw all administrative and program integrity functions, including fiscal management, procurement, facilities, and audits and investigations. In partnership with federal, other state, and local governments and health providers, Ms. Sperbeck helped administer the nation’s largest Medicaid program, along with county-operated community mental health and substance use disorder treatment programs, to serve millions of Californians.
Ms. Sperbeck is a native Californian, an alumna of California State University, Sacramento, and a certified public accountant (inactive).
