Associate Justice Carol Corrigan, California Supreme Court, was appointed as a voting member of the Judicial Council effective September 15, 2020. She was appointed by Governor Schwarzenegger in December 2005 and confirmed to her seat in January 2006. Prior to serving on the state supreme court, Associate Justice Corrigan served as an associate justice on the California Court of Appeal, First Appellate District; judge of the Superior Court of Alameda County, and judge for the Oakland, Emeryville Piedmont Judicial District. Early in her career, she served as a deputy district attorney in Alameda County.
Associate Justice Corrigan previously served on the Judicial Council (1997–2001) and was named Jurist of the Year in 2003. She co-chaired the Judicial Council’s Task Force on Jury Instructions and the Commission on the Future of California’s Courts, and also served on the Judicial Council’s Center for Judicial Education & Research Advisory Committee.
