Executive and Planning Committee Report to Judicial Council
The Judicial Council of California approved three directives from the Executive and Planning Committee on August 31, 2012. These directives aimed to improve the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) by reducing its staff size, increasing transparency in staffing levels, and eliminating vacant authorized positions that have remained unfilled for six months. The AOC was also directed to implement budget review techniques and perform internal audits to ensure resources are aligned with program goals. Additionally, the AOC was prohibited from employing temporary or other staff to circumvent a hiring freeze, with temporary employees limited to periods not exceeding six months. Overall, these directives aimed to streamline the AOC's operations and improve its efficiency.
