Overview
The Judicial Council of California is accepting applications for a Senior Technology Analyst to join the Information Technology office. A Senior Technology Analyst for the Network and Security unit provides design, implementation and ongoing support functions in a data center setting for local and wide area network infrastructure deployed by the Judicial Council, Supreme Court, and District Courts of Appeal. In coordination with other members of the Network & Security Group, is responsible for the day-to-day operation and administration of the organization’s firewalls, routers, data switches, wireless access points and network security infrastructure. This position is responsible for maintaining network hardware, cabling, uninterruptable power supplies, log auditing tools, and system management tools. Performs asset management and tracking functions, software licensing administration, maintains support coverage information. Leverages both local and contracted resources when administering and implementing systems and serves in a project management capacity for system deployments, refresh initiatives and upgrades.
The Judicial Council
The Judicial Council of California is the policy setting body for the state court system and has constitutionally conferred statewide rule-making authority. This authority includes developing, advocating for, and allocating the judicial branch budget. A majority of Council members are California state justices and judges; however, the Council also includes lawyers, legislators, and court administrators.

The Judicial Council offers hybrid work arrangements for many positions. The successful candidate will be expected to work in person on Wednesdays at the Judicial Council’s San Francisco or Sacramento office and reside in the areas surrounding these locations. Beginning January 2025, employees will work in the office at least two days per week.
Responsibilities
• Manage, monitor, tune, and troubleshoot existing enterprise-Wide Area Network (WAN) and Local Area Network (LAN) routers, data switches and Wireless Access Points (WAP).
• Recommend and implement new designs and configurations for assigned systems, performs, or oversees the implementation and maintenance of assigned technology; provides guidance and coordination for project team during rollout.
• Solve complex technical support problems and resolves issues of connectivity and interoperability for existing enterprise scale Cisco Systems, including but not limited to cloud service technologies, Active Directory, enterprise servers, virtualization, Certificate Services, Federation, Disaster recovery and backup and security.
• Work with internal and external clients, vendors, developers, and other technical staff to identify requirements and make recommendations for network and server design and implementation.
• Adhere to and enforce compliance with the Judicial Branch security framework.
• Ability to work with existing security and monitoring tools and review and recommend current and future related technologies.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
• Attend on-line weekly team meetings, bi-weekly branch meetings and quarterly meetings at either San Francisco or Sacramento HQ locations.
• Complete all required on-line training during the allotted time.
• Be available via Teams chat for other Teams members to communicate efficiently.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in computer science, information systems, or a related field, and five
(5) years of experience maintaining complex infrastructure with extensive knowledge in assigned
area of expertise such as servers, hardware, operating systems and/or network operating systems,
network hardware, telecommunications, and security.
Possession of a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or directly related field
may be substituted for one of the years of required experience. An additional four years of
professional experience as noted above may substitute for the bachelor’s degree. Or, additional
directly related experience and/or education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
OR
One year as a Technology Analyst with the Judicial Council of California or one year of experience
performing the duties of a class comparable in the level of responsibility to that of a Technology
Analyst in a California Superior Court or California state-level government entity.
