Riverside County, New Menifee Justice Center

The new Menifee Justice Center provides a three-story, nine-courtroom, 85,010 square foot building and surface parking spaces for the public and jurors in the city of Menifee. The project replaced existing court operations and five courtrooms in the nonstate-owned Hemet Courthouse and provided four courtrooms for authorized/funded new judgeships, improving court operational efficiency, access to justice, and overall public service. It relieved the current space shortfall, increased security, and replaced existing deficient court space. The project site is approximately 3.87 acres. The project utilized the Construction Manager at Risk delivery method. This new courthouse hears civil, family law, and small claims case matters serving residents of the mid-county region of Riverside County.

Prior to completion of this capital project, the Superior Court of Riverside County provided branch court services to residents of the historically fast-growing mid-county region of Riverside County from the county-owned, five-courtroom Hemet Courthouse in the city of Hemet. The Hemet Courthouse was built by the County of Riverside in 1969, which became overcrowded, substandard in size, and physically deficient over time. It was also located on a site too small to accommodate physical expansion to meet the court’s current space needs.

With the completion of the Menifee Justice Center, and to the benefit of mid-county residents, the superior court has improved operational efficiency and access to justice through relocation of civil, family law, and small claims court calendars and operations from the city of Hemet and by increasing its number of courtrooms in the region for expanded service to the public. It also has adequate space in this modern facility to offer jury, self-help, child waiting, and other needed public services.

The Menifee Justice Center project site is located in the city of Menifee on Menifee Center Drive in the city’s future government center, approximately one mile from the intersection of Newport Road and Highway 215.
