Timothy A. Reardon

Justice Reardon was born, raised, and currently resides in San Francisco. He is a graduate of St. Ignatius High School (‘59), the University of Notre Dame (‘63), and Hastings College of the Law (‘66). As an attorney, Justice Reardon served as a Deputy Attorney General and Senior Assistant Attorney General for the California Department of Justice, as a Deputy District Attorney for Alameda County, and as a Special Assistant United States Attorney for the Northern District of California. In these capacities, Justice Reardon represented the People in criminal prosecutions and appeals in state and federal courts.

He was appointed to the San Francisco Municipal Court in 1983, to the San Francisco Superior Court in 1985 (where he served as Presiding Judge of the Criminal Division from 1988 to 1989), and to his current position of Associate Justice for Division Four of the California Court of Appeal, First District, in 1990. He was retained by the electorate in 1994.

Justice Reardon is Past President of the American Inn of Court for the Lawyers’ Club of San Francisco, and currently serves in the position of Counselor for that organization. He also serves on the Executive Board of the St. Thomas More Society. In terms of community involvement, Justice Reardon serves on Advisory Boards for the Salvation Army and Catholic Charities.

Justice Reardon is married (‘65) to Maureen Riley. They have three daughters, a son, and three granddaughters.
