Aimee Feinberg, Associate Justice

Justice Louis Mauro

Justice Aimee Feinberg was sworn in as an Associate Justice on January 30, 2024.

From 2014 to 2023, Justice Feinberg served as a Deputy Solicitor General in the California Department of Justice.  In that role, she represented state agencies and officials in complex cases before the United States Supreme Court, the California Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and other courts.

Before joining the California Department of Justice, she served as the Director of the California Supreme Court Clinic at the UC Davis School of Law, where she represented clients in cases before the state high court and taught a seminar covering California Supreme Court practice and procedure, appellate advocacy, and legal ethics.  At various points in her career, Justice Feinberg worked in private practice, representing clients in appellate, litigation, and other matters.

Justice Feinberg served as a law clerk to Justice Stephen G. Breyer of the United States Supreme Court and to Judge David S. Tatel of the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.  She earned her law degree from Stanford Law School (Order of the Coif) and her undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley (Phi Beta Kappa).
