Electronic submission is the submission of an electronic copy of a document to the reviewing court. Briefs submitted electronically are not a substitute for, but an addition to, the required original paper filings which constitute the official court record.
Misc. Order 13-1 requires the electronic submission of a copy of a motion to augment/request for judicial notice with documents attached that are to be made part of the record with the original motion filed in paper form. If documents are not attached, the motion must be e-filed.
The court will accept electronic service copies of Supreme Court or trial court documents in lieu of paper copies.
Pursuant to California Rule of Court, Rule 8.70, Misc. Order 12-2, and Misc. Order 12-3, in lieu of an original and 4 paper copies, the Sixth District Court of Appeal requires the filing of an original and 3 paper copies and the submission of an electronic copy of the following documents. For CIVIL cases, submitting an electronic copy of the brief will satisfy the requirements for service on the Supreme Court under rule 8.212(c)(2).

In addition to lodging an original with the court, parties are required to submit an electronic copy of the record supporting a writ petition. Should the record exceed the size limitations of this website, a party may elect to submit the record in multiple parts or provide the court with the record in digital format.
